Cusco Peru was calling me... How I survived my first weekend and found AMAUTA Spanish School!

It’s impossible for me to tell how important something as nervous, challenging, dangerous and yet adventurous traveling to another country! Let alone that country and that community to be Cuzco, Peru. A place on the globe that I frankly no nothing about. I was content to a degree in the place I was before i made the trip here; Chicago Illinois, is the place I called home just a few days ago yet somehow Cusco Peru was calling me too. September 26th is when i arrived in Cusco after a quite pleasant twenty hour bus ride on “Cruz de Sur” from Lima. Greeted with just the unknown I can say I was more than nervous! Armed with the knowledge of knowing how to count to twenty, say hello, goodbye, thank you, and how much is it. I could only fantasize as to how easy life was going to be once I learned the language and could be understood. Somehow, I survived through the weekend and by good fortunes while having a conversation heard about Amauta Spanish School. This is just what i needed, a place, a community, that could be the guide to showing me the best time of my life. Did I find it? Yes with no hesitations. Im sure of it! Without the energy and the passion of the staff and the students I wouldn’t be having nearly as much fun learning about Cuzco, Spanish, and myself. Being introduced to people from all over the world: France, Germany, Holland, Italy, Surname, Brazil, Hong Kong, and other parts of Peru has shown me that I’m exactly where I need to be. The genuineness of the staff, the students and the surrounding neighborhood has a way of transforming your spirit to have an eagerness to learn more than ever before. Its been a week into my Spanish Classes and I’ve learned the basic neccisities of how to get around and get what I need; as well as congugations of words. The hardest process is learning how to transfer the personality that I already have with English into Spanish.

Being involved with Amauta Spanish makes me proud at the fact that I found what I was looking for in stability that comes with the organization of the school. Im excited that I can share a good experience with what was once a group of strangers but will surely be friends for a lifetime. I’ve been given the tools to change my life and all i had to do was be so brave as to come to Cuzco and allow myself to learn from others…

I have a feeling that this is just the begining of good things to come.
